Review : The Emerald Talisman by Brenda Pandos Julia makes a quick decision how to get home after her car runs out of gas. That choice to cut through the woods changes everything and throws her into a world of vampires. Lucky for her, even though she is a vampire magnet she has her own guardian, Nicholas, who does his best to keep her alive. I tried to like the main character, but found time and time again she was making bad decisions. She kept interfering and getting herself into trouble and thus I could not feel empathy towards her. Now Nicholas was much easier to like, along with Phil- until he was...

Review: Halo by Alexandra Adornetto Bethany is an angel – literally, an angel. Beth, along with her brother Gabriel and sister Ivy, is sent to a quiet sleepy town to do whatever is meant for them. Being the youngest, Beth is enrolled in the local high school to bid her time until they figure out what is meant to be done. While waiting, Beth meets Xavier and falls in love. This is not part of their mission on earth and strictly forbidden. While I found Bethany an interesting character, I was greatly disappointed that you do not meet the antagonist until over half way through the story. It would...

Review : Six Moon Summer by SM Reine Rylie has been exiled from home to avoid her parents’ divorce proceedings- by their choice, not hers. While away at a terrible summer camp, her life as she knew it ends after being bitten by a werewolf. She has the summer months to find a cure before it becomes permanent. I liked that for once I found a werewolf book where they were actually in a forest at summer camp to be bitten by one. It is the most plausible explanation of all the werewolf stories I have read thus far. This is the first book in a series and thus is treated as such. The ending had a bit of a...

Review : Hollowland by Amanda Hocking Remy has one goal- get to Max, her little brother, and make sure he is never left alone. That would be an easy task, if there weren’t zombies running around and getting smarter. Along the way she finds a few allies that help her and a faithful lion, but is that enough to get to Max before anyone else does? This was a quick read and easy to follow. Nothing was overly complicated, but how can it get complicated in a post-apocalyptic world where zombies are eating everyone- including themselves. It is more of an action tale, so it was fast from start to finish as...
