Review: Graceling by Kristin Cashore Katsu is graced with killing. A bit of an odd grace for a woman but one that shaped her into the character she was-not what she could become. On an undercover rescue mission, Katsu meets Po, and man graced with fighting. He finally meets his match. Along their adventure to find out why his grandfather was kidnapped, he teaches her more about herself than she could ever have guessed. Out of all the books I have read thus far, this was the catchiest opening. From the start, you jumped into the action and told only bits of the world, enough to take a breath and...

Review : Mortal Obligation by Nichole Chase Ree finds out quickly that her name has more meaning than she could have ever guessed. She is thrown, along with her friends, into the 101th battle between mankind and the Dark Ones that prey upon them. Along with her immortal guardians, Ree must fight the battle to save humans from becoming slaves to the Dark Ones. It took me a while to get into this one. This book was written in third person and most of the books I have read lately are all in first person. The writing style is also a bit different than I am used to and transitioning to third person was a...

Review : Brightest Kind of Darkness by P.T. Michelle Nara has lived her life knowing exactly what her next day will bring- that is- until she decides to change the outcome. Now fate has to try to redo what was meant to happen. Fate does not know that in doing so it pushes Nara closer to Ethan, someone who is almost as different as Nara as he hides his own secrets. From the beginning it had me intrigued. I cannot picture what I would do if I could see the future a day in advance. Nara kept me reading all along wondering what she would do next. Also I am curious to read more and find out more of Ethan’s...

Review: Eon and Eona by Alison Goodman The twelve-year-old boy Eon has one goal- become the next Dragoneye apprentice. He doesn’t let the fact that he is crippled mare his determination, nor the fact that he is actually a girl acting as a boy trying to get into a profession girls are not allowed to do. When the time comes, she finds that her hidden identity may be the key. A continuation of the story Eon, we finally find Eona embracing the fact that she along with her dragon are both female and the necessary piece to end the pain of the dragons. Completely new plot helps drive the story (as does...

Review : Time Mends by Tammy Blackwell After the end of the first book, Scout is hospitalized and barely surviving as her world crumbles beneath her. While it would be easy to sit in her world of hurt, life throws her back into the shifter world. Scout has to depend on the two people who once meant the world to her but who she now despises to help her along in her new life. The author is dealing with a paranormal plot line yet makes the reader feel very much a part of this fantasy world. Reading along makes you feel like it could happen to anyone and it feels very realistic. The book is very well...
